Egyptians Abroad for Development
Partnered with a group of civic-minded leaders to establish Egyptians Abroad for Development (EAD), a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering expatriates to meaningfully contribute to the country’s economic and social revitalization. I assumed the role of Treasurer on the founding board. In this capacity, I established robust financial governance practices that ensured transparency, accountability, and operational continuity. My responsibilities included:
Leading full-cycle financial management, from monthly statement reconciliation to invoice verification and expense oversight, ensuring precise and audit-ready records.
Developing and administering annual budgets, aligning resource allocation with strategic priorities while monitoring spending trends and investigating variances to maintain strong internal controls.
Preparing executive-level treasury reports that provided clear financial insight to support board deliberations, strategic decisions, and long-range planning.
Executing detailed journal entries, account analyses, and quarterly reconciliation activities, enabling consistent reporting accuracy and compliance with nonprofit financial standards.
Implementing governance-driven financial procedures, strengthening the organization’s credibility with donors, community partners, and governmental stakeholders.
Through this experience, I gained hands-on exposure to nonprofit governance, fiscal responsibility, community engagement, and mission-aligned decision-making—competencies that mirror the expectations of high-functioning boards and executive leadership teams.
